About IWDBC 2001

The 2nd International Working Dog Breeding Conference was held 10-12 September 2001 at the Gateway Center at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.  IWDBC 2001 was attended by over 80 delegates representing approximately 30 canine programs, industry, government, and academia from 14 countries around the world. The three day program was outstanding, but the distinctive of this Conference was fact that September 11 was the second day of the meeting.  Despite the grief of the moment and the almost-crippling delays caused by the increased security at the Air Force Base, the attendees unanimously voted to go on with the conference, and later decided to create an organization to support this effort.
